Clash of the Titans was an enjoy­able remake of an awe­some clas­sic. It looks like the game bor­rows some game play ideas from God Of War. Not nec­es­sar­ily a bad thing.

So, today is my birth­day and I decided I was going to take a look at the upcom­ing games for the fall and see if I would pre­order any­thing. I notice some­thing weird-A(very) slightly new design on 360 game boxes. Take a look here at a few very pop­u­lar titles com­ing up:

All of these are stan­dard 360 box art fare. Now two of these titles are 360 exclu­sives and one is not, so I fig­ured that the new design I saw has noth­ing to do with exclu­sive titles. Now let’s take a look at the new design:

Now none of these titles are 360 exclu­sives but there are some high pro­file titles in there. The last Call of Duty on the 360 is prob­a­bly the high­est gross­ing game title on a home con­sole in 2010 thus far. Doing a quick search, I find that a) this “wave” was the sym­bol on the invites to the 360 Kinect event at e3 and b) prior to being called “Kinect,” one of the names Project NATAL was toss­ing around was “Wave.” Does the sym­bol indi­cate Kinect sup­port for these games or maybe it is just a box art redesign over­all with all future games to bear it? The rea­son why it stuck out in my head is that the Wave com­pletely removes “XBox Live” brand­ing from the front of a 360 title and that is huge. Brand­ing is huge to all com­pa­nies and Microsoft is no dif­fer­ent. Granted, any Call of Duty game is going to sup­port XBL but I am curi­ous to find out why they removed the brand. More on this story as I find it.

With­out ques­tion one of the great­est hack and slash games in recent mem­ory is the God Of War fran­chise. While oth­ers have dupli­cated it with mixed results there have been some stand­outs like Dark­siders that have added their own spin on a suc­cess­ful genre. The 1C Com­pany looks to make their mark on this genre with a new char­ac­ter called Cap­tain Blood. Check out this trailer and decide if this is another hack and slash ripoff or a new player that’s ready to give Kratos and War a run for their money.

Every once in awhile a new game using a tried and true for­mula pushes the enve­lope and intro­duces some­thing new to the masses. After check­ing out this trailer I have to say that Van­quish looks like a game that will change things.Then again trail­ers always show tons of cool shit and don’t always deliver. I’ll let you guys judge.

Check out the sequel for the 2006 hack & slash clas­sic Ninety Nine Nights. I like the final fan­tasy look the char­ac­ters have but guy nar­rat­ing the video sounded like he was forced to describe the game­play at gun­point. Buy or Pass?

UFC Undis­puted 2010 is a few weeks away and with the demo already on con­soles the crew at 411games was able to put out this new trailer that shows the full ros­ter. Kudos to the 411mania crew for this awe­some trailer. Ready to fight?

My Take Radio will air its 40th episode since the relaunch this week and as a com­bi­na­tion of thanks for fan sup­port and cel­e­bra­tion of the release we are hav­ing a draw­ing for one (1) FREE COPY of Super Street Fighter IV. A quick word of warn­ing is that it is for the XBox 360 only – we apol­o­gize but it is the only for­mat we could get our hands on. We also give the dis­claimer that the copy is very very lightly used—translation I couldn’t wait ‘til Tues­day and I have been play­ing it. Still, it is an oth­er­wise brand new copy of the XBox 360 ver­sion of the game and this is what you have to do to enter the drawing:
