Once again, I just have to pref­ace this by say­ing that this is my opin­ion and mine alone. Please feel free to agree or dis­agree. I am no sports writer or ana­lyst, I just call it how I see it. Con­grat­u­la­tions to Dos San­tos on win­ning last night’s bout against Roy “Big Coun­try” Nel­son – espe­cially since the win guar­an­tees him a title shot against the win­ner of Velasquez vs. Lesnar at UFC 121.

A quick note on UFC 121. My money is on Lesnar this time. Ryan Bader says that once Lesnar gets tired it will be Cain all the way. I say if get­ting beaten in the face repeat­edly by Shane Car­win for three min­utes will make any man tired and look what hap­pened – Lesnar still has his belt. (con­tinue reading…)

I need to pref­ace this edi­to­r­ial with the fol­low­ing: I am not the My Take Radio MMA writer nor do I pro­fess to be any kind of expert on the sport. I know just enough about what is legal and not legal in the cage. The rea­son for this arti­cle is that when­ever Rich, Andrea and I watch an event together, they com­ment on the fact that I have insight­ful things to say about the fights. Regard­less of what I say, I don’t try to take any­thing away from these fight­ers; I know I could not do what they do and I only speak in ref­er­ence to what one man (or woman) did to the other.

Silva vs. Son­nen was a fan­tas­tic match and both men per­formed well. Silva said after the fight that a rib injury almost kept him out of the fight and if that is true then his per­for­mance was beyond what we could expect. That said, let’s face facts, the cham­pion was put through his paces, he was hum­bled before he got down on his knees and praised Son­nen and if I were him, I would be some­what embarrassed.

If you have ever heard an episode of My Take Radio then you have prob­a­bly heard me flip­ping out about how ter­ri­ble movies are these days. On episode 49 I went some­what into detail on what is wrong with the film indus­try. Please allow me to elab­o­rate. This is a two-sided prob­lem that lays fault on both Hol­ly­wood and the “aver­age” movie­goer. I am going to go into details on both and then see if I can­not for­mu­late a solu­tion to the issue.
