When I first saw this trailer, I really thought this movie was a SyFy channel special feature. Sadly folks, this abysmal feature film will be at your local theater really soon. God is this gonna suck — hahaha. Enjoy this gem of a trailer.

First 3D TV’s and now 4K TV’s

by Rich on Apr.22, 2010, under Gadgets & Gear, Gadgets & Gear News

As a techie/nerd I always try to stay on top of the newest technology, but sometimes even I throw in the towel and give my pockets a rest. As you all have seen and heard, 3D technology is the newest fad in home theater (thanks to the popularity of Avatar), along with a need to keep raping our pockets. Initially, the need for cutting-edge hardware was based on the need for 1080p, 1080i, and 720p, then came along the 60mhz, 120mhz and the newest 240mhz — now of course its 3D. Well, get ready for something new to blow your mind — and that my friends is “quad TV “. The NAB (National Association of Broadcasting) was demonstrating these new TV’s which boast a resolution of 3840 x 2120 and up, which classifies them as ultra-high def. So these new tv’s will produce roughly 4X the pixels of current 1080p pictures.

These new tv’s will debut in Korea first, but I am sure we will be seeing this technology shortly after the 3D buzz dies down. CES has already shown us some 4K technology from Panasonic which debuted their 152-inch plasma which is capable of 3D  and boasts a 4096 x 2160 resolution and a 17:9 aspect ratio.

\'Biggest\' news at CES: 152-inch Panasonic plasma

While I am all for new technology, it really is getting fucking ridiculous! 3D, while innovative, is really not as awesome as it’s hyped up to be. (Read Handel’s impressions) I think that if broadcast TV is at 480p & 720p then the next step is 1080p and then 3D. We aren’t even at 1080p and networks are all ready to hop on the 3D bandwagon. It’s going to be sensory overload, and in the end, our pockets will be empty and our eyes will be burned out.

So are you ready for 3D, or will you wait for 4K?

1st Impression: Resident Evil: Afterlife Trailer-aka Zombies in…..3-D

by Rich on Apr.03, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies

As the onslaught of 3-D movies continues to assault our senses it seems that some films are going right to James Cameron directly to borrow his technology. After the subpar reviews for Clash Of The Titans 3-D it looks like studios plan on taking their time on getting the 3-D formula right. Resident Evil: Afterlife continues the story of Alice ( Milla Jovovich) who is now joined by Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and their ongoing war against The Umbrella Corporation. Resident Evil movies have always been great popcorn films that while loosely based on the subject matter do a better than job than most  at bring video game to life. What do you think of the 3-D treatment?

1st Impression:Not just Step Up 3 but Step Up 3-D

by Rich on Apr.02, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies

Every teen movie regarding dancing ‚cheerleading or any other teenage activity always does well and is known for cranking out endless sequels. From Bring It On to Step Up these movies make sure to have innovative and creative finales that dazzle the eyes and are memorable. While the plots are formulaic and the messages are almost always the same these movies end up becoming guilty pleasures. Now since 3-D is the newest gimmick it was only a matter of time before a dancing or cheerleading flick used it. With that said check out Step Up 3-D and decide if it is another guilty pleasure or a steaming pile of shit.
