My Take Radio will air its 40th episode since the relaunch this week and as a com­bi­na­tion of thanks for fan sup­port and cel­e­bra­tion of the release we are hav­ing a draw­ing for one (1) FREE COPY of Super Street Fighter IV. A quick word of warn­ing is that it is for the XBox 360 only – we apol­o­gize but it is the only for­mat we could get our hands on. We also give the dis­claimer that the copy is very very lightly used—translation I couldn’t wait ‘til Tues­day and I have been play­ing it. Still, it is an oth­er­wise brand new copy of the XBox 360 ver­sion of the game and this is what you have to do to enter the drawing:

• All entrants must be at least 18 years of age (we fig­ure if you are on our forums you should be over 18 anyway.
• You must be a CURRENT mem­ber of My Take Radio’s forums and/or fan of the face­book or MySpace My Take Radio fan pages. (prior to 4/25/10)
• There will be a post going up in the forums shortly – you must enter your full name as it would appear on a ship­ping label. If you are not a forum mem­ber (shame on you) you must e-mail your name to prodigal22@aol.com with the sub­ject “SSFIV give­away (remem­ber you must already be a fan)
• Please remem­ber that I am a U.S. res­i­dent and this is an NTSC copy. Con­sider that before enter­ing because if you win and live out­side the U.S., My Take Radio takes zero respon­si­bil­ity if the game does not work.

You must meet ALL THREE (3) require­ments to qual­ify for this con­test, no excep­tions. Win­ner will be announced Mon­day night some­time between 9-11PM EDT via youtube video. I will record each indi­vid­ual name going into a hat (to ensure fair­ness) and I will pull the name out of the hat in the video. I have zero video edit­ing skills so this is gonna def­i­nitely be legit. The prize will be mailed out on Tues­day via USPS express mail so you should get it Wednes­day. If the win­ner is not a U.S. res­i­dent then I will still mail it out, but it will be First Class mail. Good luck to everyone.

I have been on the fence about writ­ing this post but as a host that tries to give his lis­ten­ers great inter­views and con­tent I had to share this story. Dur­ing the 1st week of March I decided to send Cliff a tweet ask­ing if he would be inter­ested in doing a call in to MTR. I was inter­ested in hav­ing him on because he seemed like a cool guest to have and of course my video game fans who lis­ten to the show would have had some great ques­tions for him. Here is the exchange we had via Twit­ter with my tweets in red:

While I am all for sar­casm and jok­ing around, the response I got seemed to be dis­mis­sive regard­less of the “smi­ley”. I made a sec­ondary attempt to con­tact him as you guys can see but in the end was met with zero response. Now I wasn’t expect­ing him to say yes but a more direct response would have been appre­ci­ated. Some­thing like “ Sorry I can’t” or “Set some­thing up with ______ “.  MTR is not the biggest fish in the gam­ing com­mu­nity and I am sure he wants major out­lets that reach more peo­ple but I take pride in hav­ing pas­sion­ate and knowl­edge­able fans that would have loved to talk to him.

Sure I would have asked about upcom­ing projects. Why wouldn’t I ? In the end though I am not angry nor bit­ter but I would like to remind him and oth­ers that we all started some­where and it’s the lit­tle guys that con­tribute to everyone’s successes.

Just wanted to give all the lis­ten­ers a heads up that My Take Radio will not have a new episode this week. For those of you that have been fol­low­ing MTR on Twit­ter & Face­book, you know that Blog Talk Radio suf­fered some seri­ous issues on Thurs­day night/early Fri­day which resulted in the loss of episode 34. Blog Talk Radio rep­re­sen­ta­tives con­firmed that the show was lost, but sur­pris­ingly enough, some of it has been restored. You’ll be able to lis­ten to about 1hr and 15minutes of the episode. Here is the state­ment from Blog Talk acknowl­edg­ing the issue, as well as a response from me and the fol­low up email as well.

I am very upset at the fact that this hap­pened. I went to great lengths to get these guests from the video game com­pany THQ. Get­ting them back on will be very dif­fi­cult. Not to men­tion that it makes my show look unpro­fes­sional. I am very dis­pleased with the out­come. What steps can I take on my end to pro­tect and/or back up my broad­casts going for­ward?

Again, we would like to apol­o­gize for this incon­ve­nience. There was noth­ing you could do to pre­vent this, it was a tech­ni­cal mal­func­tion that caused this issue. We know how hard hosts work to orga­nize their shows and we are so sorry that this happened.

Again, while unfor­tu­nate, at least some of it has been recov­ered. I will at least need another day or two before upload­ing to iTunes in the event the full episode is recovered.

As you can see the site is being revamped for the new year and a wealth of changes are in store. As of today you can lis­ten to episodes of MTR right on the site. Also a new forum is now active which will be another way for fans and lis­ten­ers to inter­act with each other.

2010 will be an excit­ing year for MTR and I hope you all will come along for the ride.

The MTR art con­test is offi­cially under­way!  Here are the rules:

I am look­ing for the following:

1. Show Logo– Design can be any­thing you want. The only thing I ask is that you use some red and black to keep with the site lay­out. It’s not manda­tory though.
2. Home­page Ban­ner- Ban­ner should include your logo and incor­po­rate some red and black as well. Once again, the col­ors are not manda­tory. Ban­ner size should be 480 x 250.

Rules

• The con­test offi­cially starts on 11/19/09, with all entries need­ing to be sub­mit­ted by 12/10/09.
• Vis­i­tors to the site will get to com­ment on their favorite entries between 12/11/09 and 12/16/09.
• I will choose the win­ner and will announce my choice dur­ing the show’s live broad­cast on 12/17/09.
• No Nudity of any sort in the ban­ner or logo. Entries that vio­late this will not be considered.

I have been doing some think­ing and have decided that the wrestling seg­ment maybe run­ning it’s course . Before I removed it though I wanted to hear from the MTR lis­ten­ers to see if the seg­ment needs tweak­ing instead of ter­mi­na­tion. Please vote and help decide the fate of this topic

I have been lis­ten­ing to all your feed­back as well as your sug­ges­tions and will be mak­ing some more changes over the next few weeks.Show 12 will have some new seg­ments i’m work­ing on. I am think­ing of doing a round­table dis­cus­sion on a cer­tain topic before the let­ter bag as well as a “My Take Seg­ment” which will be my rant on a cer­tain topic for the week.
