Once again, the BTR issues con­tin­ued to plague My Take Radio. Luck­ily, it wasnt as bad as before and I was able to sal­vage the show. I was joined this week by Kevin Baird from Video Game News Radio & Don Ander­son from Tum­blin With Tum­ble­weed. Com­ing off the momen­tum of last weeks show there were tons of things to dis­cuss. MMA talk cov­ered UFC 110 as well as some talk about the Frank Mir inci­dent. Wrestling news cov­ered WWE NXT as well the Elim­i­na­tion Cham­ber PPV. Gam­ing talked was rage filled as usual with gripes about the state of online play on the PS3 and the Wii. Also gave my impres­sion on the DSi XL and the impact it has on the e-reader mar­ket. Last but not least were the movies news for this week. Another lengthy dis­cus­sion regard­ing comic book movies and the right and wrong facets of Hol­ly­wood filmmaking.

On tonight’s episode I was joined by H.B Duran, aka Angel Thanatos from GirlGamer.com. Angel fit in well with the MTR audi­ence with her sharp wit and insight. She broke down the girl gamer stigma and shared her thoughts on X-10 and other gam­ing news that were dis­cussed. Later in the broad­cast, we were joined by Joanna aka Joylia, a col­league of Angel’s, who con­tributed to the game and movie dis­cus­sions as well.

GirlGamer.com is not your aver­age gam­ing web­site. In lurk­ing around the site for the last two weeks I learned that they have a tight-knit, wel­com­ing com­mu­nity that is not cen­tered totally around the girl gamer mantra. They are knowl­edge­able and have a firm grasp at what gam­ing truly is. I rec­om­mend you stop by the site and see for your­self what they have to offer.

Here’s a lit­tle back­ground on Angel: When Rac­coon City Police found young Angel that day, no one could have imag­ined that this scrappy lit­tle girl in a Tanooki suit would some day destroy the entire city. She grew up to love EZ Cheese and shot­guns and was loved by all. After a waf­fle break­fast gone ter­ri­bly wrong, zom­bies infested the land and the locals gave her another name…Thanatos. But who is she, really? Some say she is the for­bid­den love child of Bat­man and Won­der Woman, but one thing is for sure — the power to move cheese with one’s mind is none to be reck­oned with. Fit­ting in no where, Angel wan­dered from town to town; finally liv­ing in Silent Hill until a heated argu­ment with Pyra­mid Head over a poker game sent her storm­ing out. Years past. Hid­ing from the cops in Lib­erty City and yearn­ing for adven­ture, she took a temp job on the USG Ishimura but for rea­sons the lawyer says she can­not dis­cuss, she is liv­ing com­fort­ably off of the resti­tu­tion. Finally, a mir­a­cle hap­pened. One day, the good folks at GirlGamer.com found Angel scar­ing employ­ees at the local Game Stop and rather than send her back to live with the evil Ewoks, they gave her a job. Angel Thanatos is now the Lead Edi­tor and Com­mu­nity Man­ager of GirlGamer.com, still scares peo­ple and rants about Pyra­mid Head being a no-good cheater.

Now that you got a good chuckle, here is her real bio: Angel Thanatos (aka GG Angel Thanatos) began play­ing video games when the sound­tracks con­sisted of “boops and beeps” and you had to use your imag­i­na­tion to see what the hell you were mov­ing around on the screen. She has had the plea­sure of watch­ing the video game indus­try grow from its infancy, and Angel has played and/or owned just about every con­sole ever made. Although she spe­cial­izes in First Per­son Shoot­ers and any­thing Silent Hill, Angel Thanatos still plays a vari­ety of genres…NONE of which involve cook­ing or ponies. Angel is the Lead Edi­tor and Com­mu­nity Man­ager of GirlGamer.com; a defin­i­tive eZine and online com­mu­nity for women to game.
