Slick’s Quick Hits: Devil
by Handel on Jul.15, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies
Looks like M. Night Shyamalan is not thinking about the four elements anymore. Good, hopefully the sequel will be picked up by someone with talent. A horror movie where the main action seems to be in an elevator looks like pure craptasticness. But hey, at least it’s not in 3D – or is that the twist?
1st Impression: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
by Rich on Jul.13, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies
Disney has always had a phenomenal track record with animated features but their live action movies are always hit and miss. For every Pirates Of The Caribbean there is a Herbie:Fully Loaded or a Flubber to undo their masterpieces. Their newest feature borrows from the famous Fantasia short “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” in name only. Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel play the duo of sorcerer and apprentice. While their chemistry is there it does feel like Cage is just in it for the quick pay day to pay for his pyramid tomb. I think Disney will put every effort into making this a franchise since Pirates is getting ready to wrap up.
Do you think hobo Nic Cage and the nerd from every teen angst movie in the last six months have the tools to make this film successful?
So how I don’t see that happening!

1st Impression: The Loved Ones
by Rich on Jul.09, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies
I watched this trailer earlier today and I have mixed feelings about it simply because on one end it looks like every other teen slasher film, but on the other hand it has a Misery-like vibe to it that has got my attention. Will I go a theater for this ?Probably not,but it is on my radar to check out for sure. Thoughts? Share them below.

1st Impression: Paranormal Activity 2
by Rich on Jun.30, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies
Sequelitis strikes again! The original Paranormal Activity was made with a budget of $15,000 and went on to gross over $150 million worldwide all while providing some genuine thrills and a whole lot of shaky cam footage. Similarities can be made between Paranormal Activity and another “reality based” horror film. A forgotten gem called The Blair Witch Project did everything Paranormal Activity did, but fell into the trap of changing the formula and people hating the follow-up.Will lightning strike twice for Paranormal Activity ?

1st Impression: Little Fockers
by Rich on Jun.28, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies
So now that Robert De Niro has become a shadow of his former self it really was inevitable that we would have to endure another stupid Fockers movie.Obviously by the title you can see that Greg & Pam Focker are now parents and of course De Niro and his wife come to visit and hilarity ensues.
I sincerely hope this is the last we see of this franchise. What the f **k happened to Stiller and De Niro for that matter! Stiller used to be at least moderately amusing and De Niro is a legend yet in this franchise they strive to shit on their legacies. Enjoy the trailer at your own risk.
1st Impression:Green Hornet
by Rich on Jun.22, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies
My first memory of the Green Hornet was when I used to watch the old 1966 Batman show on channel 9 on Sundays. What made the character cool wasn’t so much the Green Hornet character but Kato who at the time was played by the legendary Bruce Lee.I never considered Green Hornet or Kato as stand alone heroes simply because they played second fiddle to Batman. As I grew up I learned a bit more about the characters and realized the Green Hornet had an origin similar to Batman and wasn’t a complete cornball.
In an age of remakes I usually expect the utter worst. After watching this trailer I get the vibe of Pineapple Express with costumes. Seth Rogen lost a ton of weight and looks credible as the lead but it seems that his character is an after thought and Kato is the one taking center stage. I found what I saw amusing but I am not sure this character will translate well to the big screen treatment.
What do you guys think

1st Impression:Mortal Kombat ReBirth
by Rich on Jun.09, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies
I had been on the fence the majority of the day thinking if I should post this trailer. It seems that someone wants to bring back Mortal Kombat and change the presentation from video game fodder to blood, realistic, hype machine . While the core stories are there, it seems that the direction they want to go in is more sinister and violent as opposed to the previous hokey films (Looking at you Mortal Kombat:Annihilation). Michael Jai White plays the role of Jax or in this case police captain Jackson Briggs and Jeri Ryan joins him as Sonya Blade. I have already seen the “hardcore” fans aka video game purists shitting on this concept and comparing it to CSI and any generic Cinemax action flick, but maybe in order for MK to be relevant you need to make some tweaks and maybe bring it into the now instead of milking the storyline tits of previous Mortal Kombat games. This promo has been everywhere and I think the buzz will dictate where this project goes from here.
Are you guys ready for a more grown up and violent Mortal Kombat?
