1st Impression: Paranormal Activity 2
by Rich on Jun.30, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies
Sequelitis strikes again! The original Paranormal Activity was made with a budget of $15,000 and went on to gross over $150 million worldwide all while providing some genuine thrills and a whole lot of shaky cam footage. Similarities can be made between Paranormal Activity and another “reality based” horror film. A forgotten gem called The Blair Witch Project did everything Paranormal Activity did, but fell into the trap of changing the formula and people hating the follow-up.Will lightning strike twice for Paranormal Activity ?

1st Impression: Captain Blood
by Rich on Jun.29, 2010, under Video Game Trailers, Video Games
Without question one of the greatest hack and slash games in recent memory is the God Of War franchise. While others have duplicated it with mixed results there have been some standouts like Darksiders that have added their own spin on a successful genre. The 1C Company looks to make their mark on this genre with a new character called Captain Blood. Check out this trailer and decide if this is another hack and slash ripoff or a new player that’s ready to give Kratos and War a run for their money.
Success of Microsoft Kinect and Sony Move Hinges on software
by Josh on Jun.28, 2010, under General Gaming News, Video Games
The success of the Microsoft Kinect and the Sony Move rests squarely on software. You can argue until you’re blue in the face about which one is better based on hardware specs but it is all going to come down to software. The best example of this is Guitar Hero (or Rock Band). I know Rich touched on this in his last show but I wanted to break it down a bit more.
With Guitar Hero, the public had to buy additional hardware to play various versions of the game. The game itself was very well done, addictive and became a huge hit. People were willing to pay for the additional hardware because the game was so great, and they enjoyed the novelty of using physical instruments as the game controller.
When you boil it all down, the Kinect and Move are exactly the same as Guitar Hero, but without the alluring tie in of the music game. Right now people are saying the Kinect is revolutionary and the Move is the Wii on steroids but if neither has the software to captivate gamers in the same way as Guitar Hero did, or the Wii, then both will only garner marginal success.
Which device will get the killer title first? What do you think?
1st Impression: Little Fockers
by Rich on Jun.28, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies
So now that Robert De Niro has become a shadow of his former self it really was inevitable that we would have to endure another stupid Fockers movie.Obviously by the title you can see that Greg & Pam Focker are now parents and of course De Niro and his wife come to visit and hilarity ensues.
I sincerely hope this is the last we see of this franchise. What the f **k happened to Stiller and De Niro for that matter! Stiller used to be at least moderately amusing and De Niro is a legend yet in this franchise they strive to shit on their legacies. Enjoy the trailer at your own risk.
Batman Beyond returns.….but in comic book form.
by Bryan on Jun.24, 2010, under Comics, DC
Most of us loved the old Batman Beyond cartoon that aired around a decade ago.
It was the amazing child of the excellent Batman animated series that aired before it, and was a lot darker in tone than most cartoons airing at the time, especially considering it’s target audience and time slot, it was a Saturday morning cartoon, yet the subject matter and violent nature of this show was definitely aimed towards older viewers.
Anyone who loved Batman: The animated series quickly became fans of Batman Beyond, even creating new fans with its mature subject matter.

Predators-Red Band Trailer
by Rich on Jun.24, 2010, under Video Game Trailers, Video Games
A little blood and guts to sell this reimagining courtesy of Robert Rodriguez. Seems promising and I am even willing to look past the photos I’ve seen of the new predators. I hope this doesn’t suck
1st Impression:Green Hornet
by Rich on Jun.22, 2010, under Movie Trailers, Movies
My first memory of the Green Hornet was when I used to watch the old 1966 Batman show on channel 9 on Sundays. What made the character cool wasn’t so much the Green Hornet character but Kato who at the time was played by the legendary Bruce Lee.I never considered Green Hornet or Kato as stand alone heroes simply because they played second fiddle to Batman. As I grew up I learned a bit more about the characters and realized the Green Hornet had an origin similar to Batman and wasn’t a complete cornball.
In an age of remakes I usually expect the utter worst. After watching this trailer I get the vibe of Pineapple Express with costumes. Seth Rogen lost a ton of weight and looks credible as the lead but it seems that his character is an after thought and Kato is the one taking center stage. I found what I saw amusing but I am not sure this character will translate well to the big screen treatment.
